About Us

Vinifera is a grape varietal that saved the Great French Wine Blight of the mid-19th century. Nearly forty percent of the French vineyards were destroyed from the late 1850's to the mid-1870's by Phylloxera aphid, an insect. Grafting Vinifera vines with aphid-resistant American vines, eradicated the disease.
